Product Updates June 2020
The Flow TeamLast Updated: July 3, 2020After almost a year of hard work, the Flow X beta is now available to all Flow users! Along with the beta being opened to all of you, we also reintroduced Chat, made some big changes to the Team Project Dashboard, and released a bunch of small improvements.
Open Flow X Beta
To those of you who have been in the beta environment since launch, we thank you so much for all of your feedback — you’ve helped us get Flow X to where it is now. To try out Flow X, start by clicking the “X” in the top left corner of Flow beside the main menu icon. Once the X menu is open choose “switch to Flow X beta”. This will automatically opt you into the Flow Beta program so you can quickly jump into Flow X to see what’s new. We can’t wait to hear what you think!
If you have an iOS device you can also check out Flow X for iOS — which includes Chat directly in the Flow iOS app. Start by downloading TestFlight here: https://testflight.apple.com/join/odYFZDVD. Once TestFlight has been downloaded, you’ll be able to download the Flow X for iOS (Beta) app.
Updates will be posted to beta and production weekly so even if you aren’t in Flow X you’ll be able to keep an eye on the progress we’re making in beta.
Chat for Flow X
Chat is back! For those new to Flow, Chat was a feature we had a few years ago. At that time the want for an all inclusive project management and chat app was less than we anticipated. With low usage, we ended up removing chat from the app. Fast forward a couple years, and it’s one of our most requested features!
Chat has a variety of features that will help improve communication across your team. Create channels, group chats, or DMs. Share links, images, files, and create tasks directly in chat. Use emojis to brighten up messages or channel names, and be sure to like your coworkers comments!
Team Projects Dashboard
We’ve given the Project Dashboard a visual overhaul! You can now add icons to projects which will be displayed in the team projects dashboard, allowing you another way to differentiate projects at a glance. You can access the colour and icon picker from the “…” menu on the individual project card in the team projects dashboard.
We’ve also added a filter to the team projects dashboard. This will allow you to filter all projects within a team by Status, Timeline, and Privacy so that you can make sure projects that are most relevant to you stay on track. Project cards will also display how far along you are as a circle progress bar around the project icon. Along with those big updates, we made a few smaller changes as well:
- Improved navigation between team projects dashboard and individual projects for single team organizations.
- Updated team projects dashboard cards tasks count to improve accuracy
- Streamlined project colour behaviour and options to simplify choosing project colours and improve their display
