Flow Update: New Non-Flash Uploader
Luke SeeleyLast Updated: February 17, 2012If you’ve noticed you’re spending less time than usual attaching and uploading files to Flow, there’s a good reason for it. We’ve been hard at work on a new browser-native uploader that will speed things up and address a few issues the old Flash-based uploader was causing, and it’s just been released this week.
Although Flash was once a commonly used plugin, it’s earned a less-than-stellar reputation in recent years as a bug-prone resource hog, especially compared to some of the other options that are out there. On top of that, it no longer comes installed on Macs (Apple has been trying to shake off Flash altogether for some time now) so in some cases users have had to find and install it just to attach a file.
Our goal around here is to make your life easier, not harder, and if we can add “faster” to the mix, all the better. The new uploader is just the latest step in that direction, and like always, there’s plenty more to come.
